Get Your Perfect Wig Fit in Six Simple Measurements
I’ll guide you through measuring your head at home with this tutorial, or book a video call and we’ll do it together in real time.
Before you start learning how to measure head for wig, grab a soft fabric measuring tape. – the soft, flexible kind you’d use for sewing. Please don’t use a rigid tape measure from the hardware shop. Not only will it not wrap comfortably around your head, but you could genuinely hurt yourself trying. A fabric tape gives you accurate wig measurements and moulds to your head shape naturally.
This measurement is crucial when you measure head for wig sizing because – it determines your overall wig cap size. Place your measuring tape at the nape of your neck, right under the lowest part of your head, and wrap it all the way around…
Starting just slightly in front of your natural hairline, run the tape straight over the top of your head down to the nape of your neck…
This one’s crucial because it determines where your lace will sit. Place your tape at the top of one ear, then run it across your hairline…
Starting from the same position at the top of one ear, bring the tape up and over the crown of your head to the opposite ear…
Place your measuring tape at one temple and run it around the back of your head to your other temple…
Your final measurement! At the very bottom of your natural hairline at the nape, measure straight across. Most people fall between 4 and 6 inches…
